HMS Wayland was a fleet repair ship created by converting a transatlantic Cunard passenger liner, the Antonia, built in 1921. The Wayland served in the Mediterranean in 1943 supporting the Allied invasion of Italy. Then went on to serve the British Pacific fleet operating out of Sri Lanka.
