This may be a stupid question but.. if I get a "video doorbell" (Ring or similar) with 'cctv' capabilities - do I need to put a CCTV in action warning sign up? : AskUK: "see the caveat at the end which confirms you do not legally need signs for cctv for home security purposes."

Data protection rules do not apply if you install a camera on your own home for household purposes - for example, to protect it from burglary. 


If your CCTV captures images beyond your property boundary, such as your neighbours’ property or public streets and footpaths, then your use of the system is subject to the data protection laws.
