A VC: Protecting The Safe Harbors Of The DMCA And Protecting Jobs
An executive from Viacom testified recently in Congress that the vast majority of piracy is limited to "about twenty websites." So the technology industry has done a lot to help the content industry get a handle on online piracy in the past decade.
"If another negotiation is in order to amend the DMCA, then let's have it. The last negotiation produced an excellent compromise that has stood the test of time and allowed important new services like Google, Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter to be created and become large companies and massive job creators." -- Fred Wilson

Are You An Internet Entrepreneur In Colorado? Oppose PIPA!
If you are a entrepreneur in Colorado who is working on something related to the Internet, please consider signing the following letter to Senator Udall and Senator Bennet opposing the Protect IP (PIPA) Act. I’ve written why I believe PIPA is effectively censorship and an incredibly dangerous and destructive bill to our economy, entrepreneurship, the Internet, and free speech.

When various sites shut their rewards programs this week, those uploading purely for the money were hit hard. In fact, many who had cash mounting up in their accounts lost it all – some cyberlockers simply kept the accrued money. While the ‘victims’ were livid, those who hate financially motivated ‘sharing’ commented that justice had been served.

SOPA’s supporters are pushing two agreements: ACTA and TPP1. ACTA would criminalize users, encourage internet providers to spy on you, and make it easier for media companies to sue sites out of existence and jail their founders.
