The "Undervolting" Guide
The "Undervolting" Guide A great piece of hardware hacking that can sometimes cure excess heat and fan noise on Intel notebooks. Saved me 'discarding' a Sony Vaio S460 because it was so loud. Can now use it for basic tasks without the fan noise. Sweet.
The trick is lowering the voltage supplied to the CPU. I have mine down below one volt.
